After a one-year hiatus, Taste of H returned to benefit GrantEd Foundation and we learned that foodie supporters of DC public schools were ready and willing to help launch a fledgling nonprofit with promises of revolutionizing educational
GrantEd inaugurated its grant program in April with just 2 teacher members and $125.84 in grant requests. By slowly and steadily gaining the trust of teachers through individual school visits, presentations of the simple model, and monthly newsletters, GrantEd grew to have 71 members and award $19,826.77 across 55 grants by the close of the year.
In June, GrantEd closed out the first full year of giving with 22 partner schools, 174 members, and $42,000 granted across 135 requests, reaching more than 1,500 students. Maintaining an award rate of at least 85% throughout the year, GrantEd became the most dependable and least taxing method available to DC teachers for classroom funding.
Every year, GrantEd funds everything from the mundane to the extraordinary--all necessary for teachers to provide their students with the best opportunities and experiences in a school year. Follow our activities, which are posted monthly below, and learn exactly how donor contributions are used to support our member schools.
In GrantEd's first Annual Report, we highlight fundraising, recruitment, and marketing accomplishments between March 2017—when GrantEd was officially registered as a 501(c)3—through the launch of our first grant cycle a year later in April 2018, to the end of our 2nd fiscal year in December 2018. Five strategic initiatives planned for the 2019 fiscal year are also included.
